How to keep employee morale up..and why is that important?

this sounds like a awsome topic...i would try to find a way to break it down into sub sections....and really encourage team playing and how a team cannot move forward when one of their own is falling behind weather ill or having problems...talk about ways to reach out to each other and envoke ways to talk about problems before they become major issues...this is the first time in my life that i have bosses now that are understanding of a home life..i guess first ones who ever really had one...and i work harder now for them then at any other point in my life....its nice to have to leave early when the school calls for a sick child and not have to worry about hearing the boss yelling at me the next day becasue i didnt have other arrangements in place.......i would stress the fact of not abusing this as a rule and also try to implement things to help de-stress the office...once or twice a week have a tv and a dvd and do a afterwork yoga tape together...or every 2 hours do a group stretch....and also have kudo sessions...at the end of every week have someone place something postive in a box and take a min to read them...like..sally really did a good job on that report..or john has not missed a day of work in a month..just little things so they know the small things do not go unnoticed....
