How can I get rid of coyotes?

I live in Minnesota and I am pretty sure we are having a big coyote problem around my area. I live in the central/southwest area of MN. My dad was on his way to work in the early morning and he saw a big dog chasing a coyote down the gravel road and my brother was on his 4-wheeler at about sundown and he said he saw a couple walking in the woods. The woods are about 20 feet from our fenceline. My parents say they hear my horses sometimes stomping their hooves, but I have never seen or heard these coyotes. Sometimes, though, my dogs wake up in the middle of the night barking hysterically. My dogs are inside so don't be alarmed!I heard that coyotoes won't go inside buildings and that they are afraid of light and noises or something like that. I have a polebarn and one end of it is always open, sometimes i slide the door shut a little bit when it storms and stuff. Are my horses safe? It is summer time, so it's not like these coyotes are starving, we have pheasants everywhere ..
