What's the point of dismissing an eviction if it still shows on the record?

I recently had somewhat of an issue regarding payment at my last residence, whereas payment was made, yet the LL claimed it had not been received. Turns out he did have it, however an eviction had been filed and subsequently dismissed afterwards. Now if this does show up when I plan to rent at another place, what exactly am I supposed to say regarding it? I umed if it was dismissed it doesn't show up, now I have to go into this spiel about the incident and dismissal?
